Most Overdone Costumes of 2011?

So I have yet to find an adequate digest of the most overdone Halloween costumes this year. I didn’t go to a TON of parties, but I went to a few and I seemed to pick up on a couple of themes–not all of which I’m ripping on, either. Some of these were great, and I’m just going to sorta document what I saw and see if you guys had a similar experience…

  1. First, what was with the whole GUYS IN BODYSUITS thing happening this year? I saw three guys in two nights in head-to-toe spandex…one dude was the green man from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which really, MEGA props for that, sir. And the other two dudes were Slimer and Gozer from Ghostbusters, also respectable choices but still totally uncomfortable to catch sight of strange bulges at weird angles…
  2. I also saw a few home-made sorts of Ninja Turtles…t-shirts, short skirts and spray-painted turkey platers for shells! Though I do wonder how much the illustrious Jenna Marbles affected this costuming choice…
  3. Angry birds. This one was from @LadyQuast on Twitter. I saw a LOT of these costumes advertised but didn’t encounter any, myself…though nothing beats my friend Allison’s hand-made version from last year!
  4. Black Swans. I saw one girl who was all “No, I just wanted to be a dead ballerina and this was the only costume I could find…” sure. All I could think of was this 30 Rock episode where Jenna and Paul had the same idea for their couples version of “Black Swan”…
  5. Nerds. Ye ole trusty go-to for hipsters, right next to Waldo.
  6. Various iterations of Amy Winehouse. Dead or alive.
  7. Zombies/dead anything.

I’m honestly a little disappointed that I don’t see more vampires these days…I mean, with those great press-on fangs that look nearly real and a set of coloured contacts, Twilight aside you could still be a completely legit vampire from Interview, Lost Boys, Buffy, Underworld, even. Absolutely nothing wrong with that folks, lets bring back some vintage immortal stylings!

Okay, your turn! What do you think is the most overdone costume of 2011?
